Mrs. Yvonne Hearne Jordan
June 27, 1923 – March 2, 2019
Yvonne Hearne Jordan was born on June 27, 1923 in Chatman, LA. She went to be with her Lord on March 2, 2019 in Ruston, LA. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Clinton A. Jordan; daughter, Glenda Jordan Ainsworth; her parents, Rev. Robert H. and Velma Cox Hearne: and her great-grandson, Jonas Reed.
Yvonne is survived by four children; Ginger Jordan Hagewood, Donna Jordan Denton, Bob Jordan and Jay Jordan; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
As the daughter and wife of Methodist preachers, she lived in many towns across the state, but raised her family in West Monroe. Yvonne was a first grade teacher for many years at Claiborne School in West Monroe, but also taught in Waterproof, Marion, Glenmora, and Pickering (near Leesville).
Yvonne loved to travel and visited most of the United States and much of Europe. She loved music, especially Southern Gospel, and rarely missed a concert when she could go. She loved flowers and grew beautiful roses. Later in life, she took up painting, and the walls of her loved one’s homes are decorated with many of her original works of art.
Yvonne never lost her childlike wonder for nature. A field of flowers, a sunset, or a moonlight night were all meet with her trademark “wow”. Most of all, she was the happiest when surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren - beaming with love and pride as she listened to them talk. While others adults were often busy with their lives, she always had a lap and a listening ear for all children.
Yvonne loved having a big birthday party, but this year, she is celebrating in heaven with Jesus and all the loved ones who met her there.
