Tommy graduated from Glen Oaks High School in Baton Rouge. He proudly served in the US Army during Vietnam where he earned the Marksmanship Expert Award. He completed his carpentry apprenticeship in 1976 and was a prolific builder of furniture, homes and commercial buildings, including Towne Center, Istrouma Baptist Church and St. James Place. Most recently he relocated to Mississippi to renovate an old home.
Tommy was a faithful servant and deacon at First Baptist Church in Zachary for over 20 years. Tommy enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing trips with his buddies, looking for opportunities to help others, carpentry projects, spending time on the porch at his home in Mississippi and his cabin in the Smoky Mountains, watching the rodeo, barrel racing, and fishing shows, creating things with his hands, and above all being Pawpaw to his grandson. A scripture Tommy lived by was Matthew 6:19-20 "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal."
