1930 – JANUARY 9, 2014
Rev. King, 84, of Alexandria entered eternal rest on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at his residence. Rev. King was
previously employed at Cash Grocery, Handyman Building Materials, and Afco Industries before retiring from
Huey P. Long Hospital after 30 years.
He was a native of Alexandria after spending some of his early years in Colfax. He was one of the original trustees
and incorporators of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Est. in 1966 along with his deceased wife, Mary King. Rev. King
was also called to pastorship at St. Mark United Methodist Church. After a few years he returned to Mt. Calvary,
where he served as a member, minister and associate pastor until his health failed him.
He was preceded in death by his guardian/parents Louis and Cecile Harrison; wife, Mary King; and son Don King.
He is survived by daughter, Sharon King/loving caretaker; 3 sons Nathan, Harry and Dexter (Kathy) King, all of
Alexandria; 8 grandchildren, Jernique, "Shay" / loving caretaker, Meli'sa, Maria ("Re Re"), Jasmine, Anthony,
Nathan Dewayne, Christopher King, and Kyranikka Green; brother-in-law, Joe Green, of Alexandria; 4 sisters-in
law, Bessie Green Sims, Dorothy Green of Chicago, Illinois, Emma Green and Joyce Veal Green of Alexandria; a
host of great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
