SALLY ADELLA COTTEN (MRS. C. J. T.)
1900-1994
Jesus said, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.” They are the meek, the gentle, the humble. Such was Della Cotton. She married a boy who felt it to be an honor to be a minister and she felt it an honor to be a minister’s wife. She supported him in every endeavor throughout the long years of their ministry. They served the hard, the discouraging places and brought the “Love of God” to every place they went. There was never a complaint, never an ugly spirit; their response was always affirmative to whatever their church wanted them to do. The Cottens were Methodist Protestant, and they represented the finest of that great little church. They came from a long line of ministers and represented the best of this noble profession. At the time of her death she was 94 years old, and while they had no children, she had numerous nieces and nephews.
I for one will rise up and call her blessed and thank God for these lovely people who lived among us. I can hear the Master say, “Well done thou good and faithful servant...you have been faithful over small things, I will make thee ruler over greater things, Enter Thou into the joy of thy Lord.”
