FRANK P. MOSS, SR.
February 17, 1877 – April 30, 1964
Reverend Frank P. Moss, Sr., was born February 17, 1877, at Uvalda, Georgia. He came to Louisiana to work as a civil engineer in 1900. He was married to Luella Boyd of Chestnut, Louisiana, August 2, 1903. The following children survive this union: Mrs. H. W. G. Golden and Mrs. J. C. Sartor, both of Shreveport; Mrs. W. B. Humble of Calhoun, Louisiana; L. C. Moss of Dallas; J. B. Moss of Olympia, Washington; J. C. Moss of Houston, and Frank P. Moss, Jr., of Shreveport. Brother Moss’ faithful and devoted companion of 46 years was called to her Eternal Home November 4, 1949, and in 1951 he was married to Lela Carson of Winnfield, Louisiana, who survives him. She forgot herself in her devotion to him during his last months’ illness.
Brother Moss answered the call to the ministry and became a Local Methodist Minister in 1908. He served in this relationship as an effective and dedicated pastor for 41 years. He retired from the active pastorate in 1949.
On April 30, 1964, the Master came and called him Home. He was ready to go!
It was a privilege and an inspiration to visit with him and to see the bright sparkle in his eyes. He loved the Church, he loved Christian fellowship, he loved his family, and he loved the Lord.
He has, no doubt, very clearly heard the Welcome: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
