LEONA P.T. SMITH
MARCH 16, 1908 – JULY 29, 2006

Mrs. Leona P.T. Smith was born March 16, 1908 in Waxia, Louisiana, to Emanuel Thomas and Louise Trent Thomas. She was lovingly referred to as "Momma".
She was raised in Waxia, Louisiana and was married to Rev. James Smith, Sr. for 68 years. To this union were born nine children. She was a hard worker, firm, and a loving mother. Her loving kindness could best be illustrated as she diligently helped to raise her many grands and great-grand children. She was an inspiration to all that knew her.
Her husband, a daughter, parents, and siblings preceded her in death.
She leaves the following loved ones to mourn her passing, to cherish her precious memories and to patiently await the reunion promised to us by our Lord and Savior. Daughters: Georgia Gayton, Dorothy McKinney and Thelma Hill. Sons: Joseph Smith, Theo Smith, T.J. Smith, Daniel Smith and James Smith, Jr., 35 grandchildren, 40 great- grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Miss Leona, as she was affectionately called sometimes, would talk and laugh with her children and others all the time. She was a person full of laughter. She laughed until the very end of her life with her daughter-in-law, Gail, and great-great-granddaughter, Ariel. Miss Leona, we love you and we miss your laughter.

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”
                     Hebrews 13:5
