McBride, D.S.

Rev. D. S. McBride was transferred from the Memphis Conference to Louisiana in the Fall of 1856. His name was received by the Conference, and he was appointed to the Nachitoches Circuit; but in the providence of God he was not permitted to reach his new and responsible field of labor. On his way from Memphis to the home of his parents, whither he was repairing to take leave of his affectionate relatives, he was suddenly and unexpectedly summoned from his labors and toils on earth to his reward in Heaven. He was ready to obey the summons. He died in the peace and faith of the Gospel. When or where he was born we are not informed, nor when he made a profession of religion. He joined the Itinerancy, however, uniting with the Memphis Conference in October 1855, having traveled but one-year. He was a young man of fine promise and much usefulness. |
