Mrs. H. G. Davis, nee, Donnie G. Glascock, was born at Tuscaloosa, Alabama on May 24, 1866. In 1880, under the ministry of Reverend R. T. Nabors she was converted and joined the Methodist Church. She was educated at the Tuscaloosa Female College, and graduated with distinction in 1886. In December 1887, she married Reverend H. G. Davis of Alabama and lived a faithful itinerant preacher’s wife until August 19, 1903, when, stricken by spinal meningitis, she passed to her eternal reward. She was ill only a few weeks, and tho’ a great sufferer during all that time, she was joyful in her Christian hope, and died full of faith in her Lord. She was a thorough Methodist, confining her efforts In Christian work to the regularly established methods adopted by our Church. Her greatest interest was in the missionary and temperance causes, and was in great demand for State temperance work, and read many papers throughout Alabama in the interest of this work. She leaves a husband and two little daughters to mourn her death. |
