Was born on Coteblanche Island, 1849 July 22, of a slave mother, Octavia Merdolph. He was reared by the John Huger family and was converted in 1859, and baptized by Rev. Craven. He joined the Louisiana Conference January 1875 and ordained by Bishop Foster, in 1875 an elder by Bishop Wiley. In 1877, he held the following charges: Coteblanceh, Williams Chapel, P. I. Of Shreveport District, four ears pastor of Union Chapel, 1885-1887 P. E. of S. N. District, four years N. N. District, six years pastor of First St. 1902 P. E. Alexander. 1903 he served twenty years as P. E. and 8 years as pastor. He was the leader of this Conference. In his death the Church sustains a great loss He was a faithful pastor and a loving father. | |
