ALICE (Mrs. J.H.) LEWIS 1869 - November 22, 1951
Mrs. Alice Lewis, wife of the Reverend J. H. Lewis, passed away November 22, 1951, five years after her husband bad passed on. She was 82 years old, and had been a member of .the Lewis Chapel Church since 1903. This Church was named for the Lewis family. Mrs. Lewis was the mother of 12 children, seven of whom preceded her into the other world. Her life was one of useful service to her family and community. She was very faithful in her church obligations. Her home was the home of the pastor of Lewis Chapel Church, whoever he was. She stayed home and carried on while the pastor went here and there to preach the gospel. Four of Mrs. Lewis’s former pastors took part in her funeral. She will be missed here, but greeted over there. It was the writer’s privilege to share the hospitality of this good and godly home.
