JOSEPH SIMON DICKSON 1889-1970
Reverend Joseph Simon Dickson, born May 29, 1889, was married to Miss Dora Turner, December 15, 1924 and to this union one daughter was born, Vera Dickson. Rev. Dickson united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1924 and together with a new congregation was admitted as the first pastor of New Phillip’s Memorial United Methodist Church. In 1962, having reached the mandatory age of retirement Rev. Dickson retired, having served many churches with dignity and honor. He died December 8, 1970 and leaves to mourn, his beloved wife, Mrs. Dora Turner Dickson; his daughter, Mrs. Vera Dickson Barber; and two granddaughters: Elvera and Julia. We say to Joseph, “Go on and take your rest for that is all that you can do now, the crowning will come later.”
