DEVA HARRISON
1910-1978

Deva Thompson Harrison was born on December 8, 1910 to Almond and Para Thompson. She was baptized at an early age. On December 23, 1935 she married Rev. Chapman J. Harrison. During their ministry together, Deva served as a guiding light to youth of former conference B, especially in the Shreveport and Mansfield area. She helped to convince two members of our conference to accept the call into the ministry and also helped several youth to choose Christian vocations. At the 1974 session of the Louisiana Conference, Rev. C. J. Harrison retired from the active ministry from the Fairfield United Methodist Church. After retirement, Deva and C. J. Harrison remained at Fairfield. She continued to serve the church as the Chairperson of the Work Area of Education, Sunday School teacher, Certified Lay Speaker and substitute teacher at the Fairfield Day Care Center. On August 14, 1978, she was called home to be with God.
