Edna Earle Puckett Boyd was born June 28, 1922 in Bogalusa, Louisiana, the daughter of Mr. Robert Allen Puckett and Mrs. Nancy K. Puckett.
She was educated in Bogalusa, Louisiana, where she graduated from Bogalusa High School. She then attended and graduated from a business college in New Orleans.
She married the late Rev. J. W. Boyd, Sr. on February 8, 1942. To this marriage were born two sons, Joseph W. Boyd, Jr. and George William (Billy) Boyd, and one daughter, Janis Antoinette Boyd Buckelew. There are, at present, five grandchildren. Two sisters, two brothers and her mother also survive.
Edna Earle and J. W. began their ministry in 1945 at Springfield, Louisiana. They also served in Fisher, Clay, Gilbert, Rayne, Sicily Island, Sterlington, and Columbia.
Edna Earle was very active in the Women’s Society of Christian Service, in her local church and district.
She showed strength and faith during the illness and subsequent death of J. W. in September of 1969. In June of 1970 she moved to Bogalusa, Louisiana where she became the medical secretary at the Washington-St. Tammany Charity Hospital.
Edna Earle exhibited love for her Maker throughout her life. She was a helpmate to her husband and her children. She was the perfect grandmother.
Funeral services were conducted at the Elizabeth Sullivan Memorial United Methodist Church at Bogalusa, Louisiana. Participating in the service were Rev. James Poole and Rev. Kelly Pope.
