GLENDA REINHARDT HUMPHREYS
(MRS. CHARLES HUMPHREYS)
May 17, 1941 – April 30, 2006

A celebration of the life of Glenda Reinhardt Humphreys was conducted at Lakeview United Methodist Church on May 3, 2006. The Reverend Juliet Spencer, Dr. Ed Thomas, The Reverend Elizabeth Tu’uta, The Reverend Jimmie Pyles and Dr. Donald Webb officiated at the service. A Noon service was held at First United Methodist Church in Hammond on May 4, 2006, with Dr. Carl Rhoads and Dr. Spiller Milton officiating. Glenda died Sunday, April 30, at home fighting ovarian cancer since 2002. Glenda’s friends called her an inspiration, as she never gave up, and through tremendous faith in God, she never let it get her down.
Glenda was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 17, 1941. She was a graduate of O’Keefe High School and Georgia State University. She taught kindergarten in the early years while also serving a Director of Christian Education for many churches. She will be remembered most for her love of music. Glenda’s sweet voice blessed many congregations with her solos and many lives were touched as she shared her talents as Choir Director.
She is survived by her daughters, Lauri Moore and husband Kevin, Carolyn Bitoni and husband Eric, and two grandsons, Benjamin Moore and Adam Moore.
Mrs. Humphreys is preceded in death by her parents, Arnett and Mary Reinhardt; her husband, the Reverend Charles B. Humphreys; son, John Charles Humphreys, and sister Faye Russ.
