Mrs. Smith was born in Chambers, Louisiana, August 8, 1896. She was married to the late Rev. Percy Smith who served churches on the Alexandria District prior to the merger of Conferences A and B. A member of the Baptist communion, “Ella” was known for her quiet and supportive demeanor as a wife and mother. After a fruitful and sacrificial life, which spanned almost an entire century, she was transferred from the church “militant” to the church “triumphant” March 9, 1989. | |
