McCoy, Clara T. (Mrs. Isiah Lewis)

Clara Touissant McCoy was born in Tolbert, Louisiana on August 7, 1918, to the late Janie and William Touissant. She departed this life Sunday, September 23, 1990, at 2:45 p.m. She was married to the late Rev. Isiah Lewis McCoy for forty-eight years. She was a devoted Christian, full and responsible member of Christ’s holy church, St. Peter United Methodist Church, now pastured by Rev. Ernest E. Scott, for her entire life. She was enrolled in the Ester Grand Chapter Order of Eastern Star No. 114 for twenty-seven years and the Royal and Exalted Order of Amaranth Degree Court 22 for nine years. She was the wife of Rev. Isiah McCoy, who officiated over the following churches: LeJeune-Lobdell Circuit; St. Paul-Scott Circuit; Hartzell Methodist Church; Shiloh Circuit; Melville-Palmetto Circuit; Wesley Ray-Live Oak Circuit; Mary’s Chapel, Angie Circuit. She is survived by two sons, Mr. Garner Lewis McCoy, Sr. and Mr. Isiah Burnell McCoy, both of Maringouin, Louisiana; three daughters, Mrs. Janie Shepherd of New Orleans, Louisiana; Mrs. Hariett Bilbrew of San Diego, California and Mrs. Letitia Marion Hill of Maringouin, Louisiana; two aunts, Mrs. Emma Smith of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Mrs. Margaret Wrought of Covington, Louisiana; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Leona Johnson McCoy; and a son-in-law, Mr. Marcus D. Hill, Sr. of Maringouin, Louisiana; a godson, Walker Jackson, Jr. of Angie, Louisiana; two goddaughters, Mrs. LaShondra Peters of Angie, Louisiana and Mrs. Leuisiana Jackson of Maringouin, Louisiana; a host of close relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Janie and William Touissant; her husband, Rev. Isiah McCoy; and two sons, Leroy and Eric McCoy. |
