McCann, Priscilla (Mrs. J.B.)
12/8/1992
Mrs. McCann, or “Jimmie” as she was called by her family and friends, was born December 23, 1896. She and her first husband, James Murry Lain, Sr., had three children, James Murray, Jr., Harold and Jeanette. After his death, she became the wife of J. B. “Buck” McCann. He became a United Methodist minister and served as pastor at Palestine, Epps, Indian Bayou and Oak Ridge United Methodist Churches. He died in 1972. Mrs. McCann had a dry sense of humor and delighted in telling stories of her earlier life. One favorite story was when Annual Conference met at the old Trinity United Church in Ruston. As she was walking down the long front steps of the church, she stumbled and fell into the arms of Bishop Paul E. Martin. She said it was the first time she ever fell for a Bishop. She and Brother McCann served their people very faithfully and supported our church in a wonderful way. After his death she lived in their home in Pineville and was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church. From there she went to live in Summitt Nursing Home in Alexandria where she died on December 8,1992. She would have been 96 years old on her next birthday. Our loss is Heaven’s gain. |
