Winthrop, Johnson, Harris, Maude Pinkston, (Mrs. Theodore R.)
11/27/1994
Maude P., as called by most of her friends, was born March 3, 1913 and died on November 27, 1994. Maude was born in Centerville, LA and reared in Berwick, LA by her grandparents after the passing of her mother. She was the product of the public schools in St. Mary Parish and finished college at Southern University. Maude married Mr. B. Winthrop, who passed away a few years after their marriage. She then began teaching in St Mary Parish until she married Rev. Eugene Johnson and came to New Orleans to Peck United Methodist Church. Rev. Johnson was her pastor in Berwick at Mason Chapel UMC. With his new assignment came his new bride, Maude. Some eleven or more years after the passing of Rev. Johnson, she married the District Superintendent of the New Orleans District, Rev. T. R. W. Harris, who also preceded her in death. She taught in the Orleans Parish school system until her retirement. We are so glad that Maude came our way. To cherish her memories are her many nieces and nephews. and a very good friend, Irene Reed. |
