Mrs. Clemmie Jones Simon was born September 20, 1925 to Mr. and Mrs. Clem Jones, Sr. in Jennings, Louisiana. She departed this life February 13, 1998 at 9:15 p.m. at Summit Hospital in Sulphur, Louisiana. A memorial service was held for Mrs. Simon at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 1998 at First United Methodist Church in Jennings, Louisiana.
Mrs. Simon was married to the Reverend Dan C. Simon, now retired. She was educated in the public school system of Jennings and attended Prairie View A&M University, Prairie View, Texas where the Rev. Simon was a faculty member prior to his entrance into the itinerant ministry of the Louisiana Conference.
Mrs. Simon is the mother of fraternal twins, Dan, Jr. and Danetta Simon who preceded her in death. She is also the mother of Norma Dover of San Diego, California.
She was known all over the Louisiana Conference for her friendliness and was known as “the lady who never met a stranger.”
Mrs. Simon will also be missed by her mother, three brothers, two sisters and a host of relatives and friends. The family of Mrs. Clemmie Jones Simon requested that in lieu of cards and flowers, a memorial donation be made to Mallalieu United Methodist Church, 1382 Peterson Street, Jennings, Louisiana 70546.
