Sensintaffar, Rosa S. (Mrs. J.C.)
5/1/2001
Mrs. Rosa Sensintaffar of Jonesville was married to Rev. Jim Sensintaffar, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Jonesville in 1942. Jim died at an early age with a sudden illness after he had been appointed to the Vivian charge. Because she had two daughters to raise (Retta and Rosa Ann), Rosa moved back to Jonesville where her family was in the hardware business. There she raised her girls and sent them both to Louisiana Tech University from which they both graduated. Rosa was a very popular business education teacher at Block High School until her retirement. The daughters, Retta Gobbel lives in Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Rosa Ann Sadler lives in Palm Bay, Florida with their husbands and four children. Rosa is survived by two sisters, Louise Mitchell, of Jonesville, and Erma Hicks and her husband of Dallas, Texas. It was my privilege, to not only have been Mrs. Sensintaffar’s pastor for six years, but she also lived next door to us. Rosa loved Christ, her family, her church, her flowers, and her students. I remember her as a kind and gentle person, always more willing to give than to receive. She had a cordial and contagious spirit. A memorial service was held at Jonesville Church on Saturday, May 26, at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. John Johns officiating. With fond memories, |
