Reverend Nathaniel James Kirk was born August 29, 1932 and departed this life on August 17, 2002. James was a beloved member of the Baton Rouge District where he was serving on his passing.
James is survived by his two sons, Lawan Kirk who lives in Detroit, Michigan and James Nathaniel, Jr. also living in Detroit, Michigan.
James was married to Joyce F. Kirk on June 7, 1997. Joyce brought five more children to the marriage, Tommy Manuel, Michael Manuel, Betty Hill, Janice Ellis and Sharon Hill.
Rev. Kirk served in the United Methodist Church from January 1, 1993 until his death on August 17, 2002. He started his career with The United Methodist Church on January 1, 1993 serving Wesley United Methodist Church in Houma, Louisiana. From this appointment he then went on to serve Asbury United Methodist Church in Franklin, Louisiana, where he served until May 31, 2000. After his appointment in Franklin, LA. James went on to serve in the Baton Rouge District at St. Peter United Methodist Church, Donaldsonville - St. James United Methodist Church, Belle Rose until his death on August 17, 2002 where he served as a part-time local pastor.
Rev. James Kirk was truly blessed and in turn he blessed us throughout his 70 years.
