Marcel, Mary Vivian Hatch (Mrs. Lionel)
5/4/2004
Mary Vivian Hatch was born on October 8, 1935 in Hope, Arkansas to Alvin and Ruby Allen Hatch. When she was three, she contracted polio. Though she recovered, it left her with walking difficulties for the rest of her life. She moved to Louisiana, where she graduated from Fairpark High School and attended business college. She met and married Lionel Marcel. Besides raising their three children, Randy, Perry, and Simone, they opened their homes and hearts to take in other family members such as nephew Chris Thom. She enjoyed working with crafts, painting, and quilting. Mary also worked for a time as a telephone operator. Mary was ever the faithful clergy spouse … supporting Lionel in his three decades of ministry. Soon after Lionel’s 1996 retirement, she and Lionel moved to the Dallas area to be near their children. After 47 years of marriage, Lionel passed away in October 2003. Mary found out she was very ill and would be joining him soon. Though sad to leave her family behind, she looked forward to being with Lionel once again. She rejoined her husband on May 4, 2004. Both she and Lionel will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by Randy & Charlotte and their children LeAnne and Kaci, Perry & Jennifer and their children Matthew, Michael, and Andrew, Simone and her children Jeremy, Megan, and William, Mary’s sisters Imogene Young and Barbara Thom, and family & friends in Louisiana. by Tim Hebert, Mary’s nephew |
