“Mr. Jerry,” a true treasure in an earthen vessel. Preceded in death by his wife Barbara, Jerry was a model father to a very special son, Clifton. A devoted pastor to several United Methodist Churches, the latest being Basile United Methodist Church, Jerry shared the gospel in word and deed. A true disciple of Christ, he was Jesus’ evangelist through his thirty years as reporter, editor, and sports editor of the Eunice News. Generations of high school and grade school children learned from his example and mentoring whether at ball games or in the classroom. From firemen to theatre groups, Jerry taught us how to respect other’s gifts and celebrate life in all its facets. Many civic awards were given Jerry over the years but they could not really match all Mr. Jerry did for others. Mr. Bobby Giroir, Editor of Eunice news called him a “lightning rod of goodness” and the “greatest man I ever knew.” For his laughter, gentle strength, and indomitable spirit, thanks be to God.
