MURIEL MCCLENDON MILLER
FEBRUARY 23, 1947 – APRIL 3, 2012
 
 
Muriel McClendon Miller was born on February 23, 1947, in Leedey, Oklahoma. She passed away April 3, 2012.
 
Muriel received her BA degree from McNeese State University, Lake Charles in 1960 and later her Master's degree from Northwestern State University, Natchitoches. She taught High School Business and English Literature. She was a church pianist, organist and Sunday School teacher at Horseshoe Drive United Methodist, where she was a dedicated member.
 
Mrs. Miller faithfully followed her husband throughout his ministry in the Louisiana Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, serving alongside him using her many gifts.
 
She was a loyal member of WSCS (Women's Society of Christian Service) which later became the United Methodist Women. Muriel served as the District President and State President of the Louisiana UMW, as well as various other offices in the organization on local, district and state levels.
 
Some of her hobbies included poetry, painting and traveling to thirty-four countries. She was a pink lady at Rapides Regional Medical Center for nine years.
 
Mrs. Miller is survived by her husband, Rev. Robert R. Miller; one daughter, Sharon Clarice Miller both of Alexandria and two nephews.
