SEPTEMBER 17, 1927 – DECEMBER 18, 2011

Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say rejoice!  Phil 4:4

Rev. Kenneth Bryan Chapman went to be with his Lord on Sunday, December 18th, 2011, at the age of 84 in Brighton, Michigan. Ken was born September 17, 1927 to Randolph and Ida Chapman in Kurthwood, Louisiana. Ken attended Southwestern Louisiana Institute (U of Louisiana Lafayette) to play basketball but his time was cut short to serve in the army in occupied Japan at the end of WWII. After returning he later attended Greenville College. It is there that he wholeheartedly devoted his life to Jesus Christ. He also met his wife Mary Mannoia, with whom he is now reunited in heaven.

Ken received his Masters at Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia, Kansas in 1967(Y). He was a pastor at Emporia Free Methodist Church, Emporia, Kansas. In 1968, he moved to Eunice, Louisiana where he taught English at LSU-E. He also pastored part-time at Jena Free Methodist, Jena, Louisiana and later at Palmetto United Methodist and Melville United Methodist in Louisiana, where he finished his ministry.

Ken was active in his support of the Christian College community. He was a man that lived by his convictions and walked daily with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Ken is survived by his son Kenneth B Chapman, Jr., Avon, Connecticut and his daughters Nancy Deckman, Leawood, Kansas, Susan Goble, Brighton, Michigan, Lisa Stephens, Worland, Wyoming and Jeanne Tanner, Brighton, Michigan; his sister Vanessa White, his brothers Dr. James Chapman and Dr. Sydney Chapman. His legacy will be carried on by his 13 grandchildren and one great grandson. He is also survived by his wife Ruby Satterly, whom he married in 1998, who faithfully and compassionately stayed by his side in his remaining years. He is preceded in death by his sister Margie Kees and his late wife Mary Mannoia.
