Margie Seward Shaw
DECEMBER 27, 1920 – MAY 18, 2011

Margie Seward Shaw (Mamaw or GG as she was affectionately known) was born on December 27, 1920, and passed from this life on May 18, 2011. Margie was the ever faithful spouse of Rev. William B. “Jack” Shaw who served the Louisiana Annual Conference until 1993.

Margie’s life reflected love in the most profound meaning of the word as shared by the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 13. Her love was best defined by two words - submission and sacrifice. Margie’s submission to Christ was lived out in her willingness to follow Jack’s calling to the pastoral ministry. Their years of service were spent in Clay-Ansley, Gibsland, Greenwood, Summer Grove, Cotton Valley, Lakeview-Minden, Newellton, Second Church-New Orleans, Mer Rouge, Gueydon, Chatham, and Eros from which they retired. Margie lived sacrificially in support of Jack’s calling as she stayed home, worked and raised children so Jack could complete his education Southwestern University and then Perkins School of Theology.

Margie also spent many years as an Administrative Assistant to the Methodist Children’s Home in Ruston.

Margie is survived by her children, Jackie Cartee and husband, Jim, Doug Shaw and wife, Rosie, Paul Shaw and wife, Belinda and Mary Simons; 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; son-in-law, William Simons; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Seward and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
