JOE BROWN, JR.
JUNE 11, 1931 – OCTOBER 28, 2010
 
Reverend Joe Brown, Jr. was born on June 11, 1931, in Perryville, Louisiana to Joe and Martha Brown. He confessed to Christ at an early age. He joined Mt. Nebo in 1957 and later became its pastor.
 
Rev. Brown was licensed to preach on October 29, 1966. He received his high school equivalency diploma in 1972. He completed his ministerial courses of study at Perkins School of Theology Southern Methodist University in 1976.
 
Rev. Brown pastored in the Monroe District for 33 years. He tirelessly pastored 5 churches: Mt. Sinai UMC, St. Peters UMC, Mt. Nebo UMC, Washington Chapel UMC, and Lawson Chapel UMC. He put many miles on the back roads and highways of Louisiana. Rev. Brown retired on June 10, 1998.
 
Rev. Joe Brown, Jr. passed away on October 28, 2010. He was married for 54 years to Dorothy Mae Watson Brown. He was the proud father of two sons and four daughters. Also, cherishing his memories are 18 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and 8 great- great-grandchildren.
