Theresa Stevens Bids Farewell to the Annual Conference after Nine Years of Dedicated Service

September 25, 2023
After over nine years of unwavering commitment as the Conference Assistant Benefits Officer, Theresa Stevens is stepping down from her role at the Annual Conference. Her departure, effective September 30, 2023, marks the end of an era for the Conference Finance and Administrative team.
"Theresa has been a valued and integral member of our team, and her departure will leave a void that will be deeply felt by all who have had the privilege of working alongside her," said Sandy O'Brien, Director of Finance and Administrative Ministries. "Her gracious and giving heart, often described as a true servant's heart, has endeared her to both active and retired clergy, as well as everyone inside our beloved Conference."
During her tenure, Theresa tirelessly served the needs of the Annual Conference, demonstrating a strong commitment to ensuring the well-being and satisfaction of all members. Her dedication and professionalism have been evident in every aspect of her work, making her a trusted and cherished colleague.
"I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have served the Annual Conference for the past nine years," Theresa Stevens reflected. "It has been an incredible journey working alongside a team of dedicated individuals who share a common passion for supporting our clergy and church administrators. I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to everyone I've had the privilege to work with."

While Theresa may be leaving her official role, we hope to continue to see her at the Annual Conference in the future, where she will always be a cherished guest.
Theresa's decision to leave her role at the Annual Conference comes as she has felt a calling to serve in her home church, St. Francisville United Methodist Church, a path we wholeheartedly support and understand.
"I share in the heartfelt gratitude for Theresa Stevens' dedicated service to our Annual Conference," Bishop Williamston said. "Her unwavering commitment and servant's heart have been a source of inspiration for us all. As Theresa embarks on this new journey, we extend our best wishes for her future endeavors. Her contributions will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of working with her."
To ensure a seamless transition and continuity in our commitment to serving the needs of our clergy and church administrators, Sandy O’Brien and Michele Giarrusso will be jointly assuming the role and responsibility for all Benefits work. Their combined expertise and dedication to our mission make them ideal candidates to build upon the foundation laid by Theresa Stevens.
