AC2016: Rooted and Grounded will be held June 8-11 at Centenary College in Shreveport. This year's scripture verse is Ephesians 3:14-21, and the event will be held primarily in the Gold Dome on Centenary's campus.
Rev. Ann Sutton, pastor of Northwood United Methodist Church in Lafayette and noted artist, has created a beautiful logo in watercolor for this year's event. Watch this fascinating video of Ann at work creating the logo, which will be used leading up to and throughout annual conference.
Rev. Mike Slaughter, lead pastor of Ginghamsburg United Methodist Church in Ginghamsburg, Ohio, will be featured preacher for a Thursday evening worship service to be held in the Gold Dome on Centenary’s campus during AC2016. Under Mike’s leadership, Ginghamsburg Church has become known as an early innovator of small group ministry, the Church “media reformation” and cyberministry.
Slaughter will also speak at the Clergy Session, slated for Wednesday, June 8 in Browns Chapel from 3:30-6 p.m.; on Thursday, June 9 during the Laity Session at First UMC, Shreveport from 8-10 a.m.; and in the Gold Dome on Friday, June 10 from 8-9 a.m. when Slaughter will offer a “teaching moment .”
Joining Slaughter on Thursday evening is the worship team from Foundry United Methodist Church in Sterlington. The public is invited to attend this special service which will feature inspiring words from Slaughter and exciting contemporary worship led by the team from Foundry UMC. “Sunday school classes and small groups that have studied Mike Slaughter might want to load up and come up to Shreveport. Even worship teams and worship bands that are looking for new ways to do contemporary worship might like to see Foundry’s team in action,” said Rev. Dr. Ramonalynn Bethley, chair of the Design Team for AC2016
