Shreveport District plans Fruitful Conversations

The Shreveport District UMC is offering a time of interactive learning and development for Fruitful Conversations guided by Dr. Craig Gilliam and Betty Johnson.
This event will help facilitate skills to have constructive, courageous conversations in our congregations, especially around challenging topics.
From District Superintendent Rev. Wybra Price:
We live, work and minister in an increasingly polarized society. A time when individuals, businesses, churches and politics seem to draw more lines in the sand separating one from another. As church leaders, our pews and families are filled with differing opinions and or avoided conversations. It is my hope that we use this time to learn how to build safe containers in our churches to hold fruitful conversations.
Fruitfulness reminds us of Paul’s writing the early church in Galatia (Galatians 5:22-23): The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
May our willingness to engage our brothers and sisters like us and nothing like us be fruitful as we get to know, love, respect and appreciate all God’s creation.
