Happening | 25th Anniversary

This July, the Louisiana United Methodist Happening will celebrate its 25th anniversary.
It all started in July of 1992 when three adults (Robert Chance, Carolyn Dove, and Terri Wehlander) and twelve youth (Julie Betz Floyd, Ashley McKenzie O’Leary, Kristen Myers, Leslie Stephens, James Williams, Jennifer Cockrell, Wendy Fortuna, Josh Johnson, Katie Lawson, Amy Moore, Heather Shanks, and Matt Wehlander) attended Mississippi Happening # 11 at Madison United Methodist Church in Madison, Mississippi.
Their intention was simple - establish a Methodist Happening in Louisiana and in January of 1993, Louisiana United Methodist Happening #1 was held at Caney Camp in Minden.
Since then, the event has continued to transform the lives of those who have attended.
The Happening Experience is a powerful instrument of renewal in the Church. The weekend theme is developed through a series of talks which compare the changing nature of material and social reality as compared to the permanent nature of spiritual reality, a firm foundation on which teens can build a secure foundation on life.
25th Anniversary Celebration
July 16 the Louisiana United Methodist Happening will celebrate its 25th anniversary at the Wesley Conference Center. The celebration will begin about 2 pm in the Lobby of the Stafford Building.
All Happeners are invited to come celebrate and reminisce about your Happening experience. For more information please contact Carolyn Dove, Registrar Email: catdove@soft-spec.com.
