Going on a Virtual Mission

Many of us had planned for months, gathered great teams and were prepared to lead amazing missions to one of our many wonderful mission sites around the globe.
But then, the pandemic happened and our plans were put on hold.
Going on a Virtual Mission Wednesday, April 22
1:00 p.m
We don’t know when we’ll be able to reschedule our missions, but we do know that the God we serve never rests and never stops inviting us into mission.
"We keep learning new ways of being the church," says Rev. Elaine Burleigh, Director of Missional Outreach and Engagement. "First, we learned how to do virtual worship. Now, we have a chance to learn how to do virtual mission, so that mission can continue even in the midst of a pandemic."
Because COVID-19 can’t stop our God, and it can’t stop our heart for mission, our Jurisdictional UMVIM Directors have developed a virtual mission plan as a way to help keep us connected to the mission sites we were going to serve.
A virtual mission helps teams connect with one another while practicing social distancing, and then when we can gather in community again, it can help us connect with our neighbors.
To find out more about this plan, we invite you to an online presentation called “Going on a Virtual Mission,” on Wednesday, April 22 at 1:00 p.m. CDT.
