Fusion: Confirmation, What Does it Mean to Follow Jesus?
The Wesley Center is hosting FUSION: Confirm, a confirmation retreat scheduled for February 10-12, 2023.
Confirmands will be encouraged to reflect on their own call to discipleship. They will consider very specific ways that they can become ministers of the Gospel through worship, service, bible stories, and fellowship.
The retreat will also include workshops focused on the vows of membership. Participants will be encouraged to think deeply about what it means to confess their faith in Christ and to publicly declare their commitment to Him in the United Methodist Church.
Rev. Karli Pidgeon, Rev. R.L. Bethley, Rev. Joseph Awotwi, and Lindsay Sirman, four of our Conference's dynamic leaders, will be guiding the Confirmands. Together with the leaders and other confirmands, the group will learn about the power of testimony and the transformative impact that faith can have on their lives. They'll also learn what it means to follow Jesus, use their giftedness, and consider the vows of Covenant Membership (prayer, presence, gifts, service, & witness).
Fusion: Confirmation provides a powerful opportunity for young people to deepen their understanding of what it means to follow Christ and to make a profession of faith. Set in the serene and inspiring environment of the Wesley Center in Woodworth, Fusion will provide the space for participants to reflect on their spiritual journey and to consider the important steps they can take to further their relationship with God.
The retreat begins with a time of worship and reflection, as participants come together to sing hymns, read scripture, and pray.
They'll explore topics such as:
- The Call of Hagar and Ishmael
- The Call of Mary
- The Call of Samuel
- The Call of Woman at the Well
- Workshop: The Value and Meaning of Service
- Workshop: Presence, Prayers, and Gifts
And no youth retreat is complete without fun games and S'mores!
This is an incredible opportunity for young people to learn more about what it means to follow Christ and to make a profession of faith. Through a combination of worship, reflection, and community building, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the importance of confession, biblical teachings, and a life of service.
Fusion: Confirm will equip our next generation to go out into the world and make a positive impact, spreading the love of Christ and bringing hope and transformation to those around them.
