United Methodist Foundation of Louisiana Reaches $200M in Assets: Celebrates at Annual Meeting

“We’ve reached $200 million in assets under management,” announced Board Chair Omer Davis at the United Methodist Foundation of Louisiana’s annual meeting last month, where the board celebrated this milestone and the Foundation’s 45thanniversary.
 
Also, new board members Eunice Val Lavigne of Baton Rouge and Rev. Drew Sutton of Hammond were elected to begin three-year terms in August.
 
Lavigne is a lifelong member of Camphor Memorial United Methodist Church of Baton Rouge, where she is Church Council Chair.
New Board Members:

Sutton has served multiple churches in the Louisiana Conference of the United Methodist Church and is currently senior pastor of First United Methodist Church of Hammond.
 
Additionally, the following leaders were elected: 
  • Rev. Michi Head, Vice Chair of the Board
  • Dr. Debra Davis, Grants Committee Chair
  • Chris Spencer, incoming Foundation President, effective July 1, 2021
  • Sandra Kuykendall, Secretary
  • Tracie Wharton, Controller
Current Foundation President Rob Fairly will retire on June 30, 2021.
 
Located in Baton Rouge, the United Methodist Foundation of Louisiana was founded in 1975 and serves United Methodist churches, institutions and individuals within the Louisiana Annual Conference, providing financial guidance and education, loans and grants. 

It is one of the largest United Methodist Foundations in the denomination.
