Floods

The images and the stories of this week's floods across the state are heartbreaking.
 
The Louisiana Conference Disaster Response team is doing its best to respond to the needs and requests. They are working closely with UMCOR to distribute needed supplies, assess damage and determine the next steps in what will be a long term recovery effort. 

We have received an initial $10,000 emergency grant from UMCOR.
 
In the meantime, I invite United Methodists across the state to respond to the needs of the many impacted by the storms by making an additional offering to the flood relief efforts. You may begin this Sunday by placing an additional check in the offering plate and note that it is for flood relief. You may also send your contribution directly to the Louisiana Annual Conference and note that it is for flood relief efforts.
 
Teams will be deployed as the waters recede and a plan is in place. Other specific needs will also be identified and communicated.
 
Finally, but perhaps most importantly, please continue to pray for the thousands that have been impacted by the flood waters and storms.
