ERTs respond in wake of flooding

April 12, 2016
Early Response Team members from Clinton United Methodist Church and Grace UMC in Ruston recently moved a "mountain of debris" left behind in the wake of record rains and flooding in Louisiana. The team was volunteering in rural Ouachita Parish. The work, accomplished with the aid of a tractor, was part of an ongoing recovery effort in which ERTs are playing a big role.
Team members from Clinton UMC included Daryll Guy, Charles Goss, Selwyn Blouin and Ron Granier. Rev Bob Deich, pastor of Grace UMC in Ruston and conference coordinator of ERTs, served with the group. The tractor was provided to the team by Mike and Kim Belue, members of Grace UMC.
More than 60 clients were contacted by volunteers from Grace UMC as part of the overall effort to connect with thousands of homeowners who were impacted by the flooding. Those volunteers were Karen Knight, Kit Hanley and Kathy Stone.
