Episcopal Nominations Due November 15

October 30, 2019
The Louisiana Annual Conference Delegation has begun a process of discerning episcopal candidates from Louisiana for potential endorsement by our delegation and conference and presentation for consideration at the South Central Jurisdictional Conference in July 2020.
Any active ordained United Methodist elder in good standing is eligible to be elected a bishop. An episcopal candidate must have at least four years of eligibility to serve as a bishop before reaching the age of 68, so that during their last quadrennium served they will not exceed the mandatory retirement age of 72.
Nominations should include the name of the clergyperson, his/her current ministry setting, and a brief rationale explaining why you believe this person has the gifts and graces to be an effective episcopal leader. Self-nominations are not being accepted.
All nominees will be prayerfully considered by the delegation. Those chosen as candidates will be invited to participate in a further discernment process that includes answering written questions and a possible personal interview with the delegation in December 2019.
At that time, one or more candidates may be chosen and presented to the Louisiana Annual Conference for endorsement.
Clergy and laity are invited to submit names and rationale for consideration to Rev. Brady Whitton, the head of the Louisiana delegation.
Nominations should be submitted to bwhitton@firstmethodist.org by November 15, 2019.
Questions may also be directed to Rev. Whitton at the same email address.
Thank you very much for your prayerful consideration and support.
Rev Matt Rawle
Communications Director of the Louisiana Delegation
