Seeking Musicians

November 14, 2016
Louisiana United Methodist choirs, praise bands, worship ensemble groups, including liturgical dance teams, and individual musicians may now audition for an invitation to share their worship gifts at the 2017 Louisiana Annual Conference, which meets in Shreveport, Louisiana, from June 7-10, 2017.

“There is such a rich diversity of gifts across our Annual Conference, many of which we have yet to discover,” said Rev. Lane Cotton Winn, the Annual Conference Design Team Chairperson. “By inviting local church music teams, choirs, liturgical dance teams, and ensembles to nominate themselves and offer their gifts and talents during Annual Conference, we hope to widen the scope of creativity and broaden the diversity of our holy conferencing experience.”

To apply for an invitation to Annual Conference, groups are asked to register online and include the following:
  • Name of group
  • Name of primary contact person along with email address and phone number
  • Brief bio of the group including approximate number of members, general age range, and any unique characteristics
  • A link to a private YouTube video of the group performing. (Video can be filmed from a smartphone or handheld device)

The application and questions should be directed to Adam Philley at adam@broadmoorumc.org by January 15, 2017.

Worship opportunities for invited choirs and ensembles begin with Opening Worship on Thursday morning, June 8th, and continue throughout the conference, including services such as the Memorial Service and the Celebration of Ministry Service (Ordination Service).

Groups are responsible for their own expenses.
