Community Conversations

May 03, 2017
Broadmoor United Methodist Church will host “Community Conversations: A Safe Place for Dialogue” this Saturday, May 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Casual Worship Center. Community Conversations is an opportunity for local people of various races, religions, and backgrounds to come together to explore and discuss topics that affect their lives in Baton Rouge.
“Community Conversations is a continuation of the work we started in January with Strengthening Connections Through Conversation led by Dr. Willis Johnson, a pastor from Ferguson, MO,” said Rev. Donnie Wilkinson, senior pastor at Broadmoor United Methodist. He added, “In response to the events this week, this gathering will provide a safe place for the people of Baton Rouge to build relationships through conversations with our neighbors.” The format consists of small groups at round tables answering three questions, giving each person the opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings with those seated at their table in a non-judgmental environment.
Community Conversations: A Safe Place for Dialogue is free and open to the public. People can reserve a seat via Broadmoor United Methodist’s Facebook page, which can be found at www.facebook.com/broadmoormethodist, or by calling the church office at 225-924-6269.
If you have questions or would like to interview Rev. Donnie Wilkinson about this event, please contact Christi Rangel at 225.247.9974 or crangel@broadmoormethodist.org.
