Closure of 527 North Blvd.

Bishop Cynthia Fierro Harvey
March 14, 2020
We wanted to pass along an update regarding the Conference Office located at 527 North Blvd. in Baton Rouge.
As you know, most of us are practicing social distancing, and we appreciate everything you are doing in your local context to adhere to best practices.
The ongoing updates from the CDC indicate that the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Louisiana continues to rise.
As we all diligently work to slow the spread of COVID-19 through social distancing, beginning on Monday, March 16, 2020, the Louisiana Conference Offices will be closed.
This closure strictly relates to the building itself; the work of the Conference will continue as staff will be working remotely.
The building will be inaccessible to non-conference staff, and the phones will be answered by the after-hours system. This state-of-the-art system immediately directs all voice mail messages to email and sends the directed party an email with a link to the voicemail.
Additionally, all emails remain operable and will be checked remotely by all employees.
This will alter the way we work, but the Conference staff is dedicated to embracing new ways of working and are very prepared. We have been using digital technology for some time, including Zoom for conference calls and the ability to access computer systems remotely. We do not anticipate this to cause significant interruptions in workflow, and staff will remain available and accessible during regular work hours.
We will continuously monitor our workflow and will reevaluate the office closure one week at a time. We will be as flexible and accommodating as is needed during this time.  We covet your patience.
Now is the time for you to care for yourself and your family and prepare for the days ahead. Please follow the recommendations of local officials and avoid large crowds if you are ill. If you believe you have been exposed, take proper precautions to self-quarantine and notify your physician.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Grace and Peace,
Bishop Cynthia Fierro Harvey
