Louisiana Conference seeks staff positions for Disaster Response Ministry

May 25, 2016

United Methodist Committee on Relief has awarded a $300,000 grant to support Louisiana Conference disaster response efforts in the wake of the Spring Floods of 2016.

Adding this amount to existing Conference funds, this gives the response approximately $500,000 to move forward in our work. We are planning on the project lasting for one year.

To facilitate the work, Louisiana Disaster Response Ministry (LADRM) will hire a Project Director and a Volunteer Manager. In addition, five Case Managers will be hired to cover the Leesville/Vinton area, Monroe/Sterlington area and the Slidell area. Others are to be determined.

In the areas receiving services, Operations Supervisors will be appointed. These supervisors will assess the projects chosen through LADRM, see that materials are in place, and train and oversee the actual repair work performed by volunteers. The Operation Supervisors will be supplied by the cooperative response groups in the various response areas throughout the state.
