First UMC, Zachary forms ‘Friends and Needles’

April 11, 2016

First United Methodist Church in Zachary recently formed “Friends and Needles,” a ministry group that uses sewing and other needle crafts to work on mission projects. The “Friends and Needles” group brings together women who enjoy sewing and other needle crafts for mission outreach, all the while teaching each other various craft skills.
In January of this year, more than 20 women came together from within the church and from throughout the Zachary community to start the group. Their first project supported African missionaries Jesse and Heather Krenz, with whom the church is in relationship. The sewing group made 50 dresses and 20 pairs of shorts for children in Zambia, a village served by Jesse and Heather.
