Louisiana Conference sends Early Response Teams to Texas

January 05, 2016
As Louisiana United Methodists continue to pray for those affected by recent tornadoes and storms, Rev. Bob Deich is leading an Early Response Team from the Louisiana Conference working primarily with debris removal near Rowlett, Tex.
"Team Louisiana," pictured here, moved quickly to respond to a request for aid from the North Texas Conference in the wake of an EF-4 tornado that struck the Dallas area on Dec. 26. Team members include Daryll Guy, Charles Goss, Selwyn Blouin and Billy DeLee from Clinton UMC; James Gouedy from Trinity UMC in Ruston; Doyle Coffelt from Faith Community UMC in Broussard; Ron Feaster from Love Chapel UMC in Haughton; Don Allen, Dave Rector, Greg Green and Jimmy Parker from First UMC in Denham Springs; and Bob Deich from Grace UMC in Ruston
Through the early response efforts of tarping and debris removal, the team is helping to make homes and property safe for residents while reducing further exposure to the elements, said Deich. "Our guiding principle is 'Providing a caring, Christian presence in the aftermath of disaster.'"
