Cokesbury sponsors VBS showcase events in February/Scholarships available for funding Vacation Bible School

December 17, 2015
Get ready for next summer! Vacation Bible School, that is!
Cokesbury will present three Vacation Bible School events in Louisiana during March of 2016. The first of the two events will be held from 3-5 p.m. on Feb. 21, 2016 at United Methodist Church, 101 Live Oak Dr. in Lafayette. The second showcase will be held from 10 a.m.-12 n.n. on Feb. 23 at First UMC, 930 North Blvd. in Baton Rouge. The third event will be held from 10 a.m.-12 n.n. on March 12 at Gretna UMC, 1309 Whitney Ave. in Gretna.
IMPORTANT NEWS! The Louisiana Conference Board of Discipleship is offering funding to churches that are planning to hold Vacation Bible School in the coming year and that need help with resources. Funds collected on Christian Education Sunday will fund the scholarships for those churches that have requested financial help and that meet all qualifications.
Priority for scholarships will be given to churches with a membership of 250 or below (or 75 or less in average attendance); and to churches that haven’t held a yearly Vacation Bible School program. In order to be eligible for funds, representatives from the church must attend one of the three Cokesbury Vacation Bible School preview events scheduled for 2016.
To apply for one of the scholarships, find a downloadable form and instructions here.
