Centenary College Choir to sing at First UMC, Alexandria

October 22, 2015
The Centenary College Choir is performing in the sanctuary at First United Methodist Church, 2727 Jackson St. in Alexandria on Nov. 22. The concert is free and open to the public.
The 2015-2016 program highlights a varied style with the theme “It’s About Time” and explores the intersection of time and eternity while promoting peaceful social action in the present. Energetic spirituals such as Ain’t Got Time to Die and Ask the Watchman are counter balanced by classics such as Ralph Vaughan Williams Lord, Thou Hast Been Our Refuge and Srul Irving Glick’s symphonic movement, The Hour Has Come. Broadway lovers will note the nostalgic “Sunrise, Sunset” from Fiddler on the Roof, and big band enthusiasts will love the throwback, Tico Tico. The program also features the world premiere of student composer Jaydon Dahlquist’s A Season for All Things.
