Clanton Chapel holds preschool graduation

May 18, 2015

Clanton Chapel Christian Preschool held its 31st commencement ceremony May 16 in the sanctuary of Clanton Chapel UMC.

Participating in the graduation were Rev. Don Cottrill, provost; Hosie Verdin; Lona Verdin; Zoeanna B. Verret, who helped get the preschool off the ground; Roger D. Dehart, vice president of the Terrebonne Parish School Board; and Annie Lirette, vice principal of Grand Caillou Elementary School.

The preschool got its start when Zoeanna Verret, in working with young students, saw the need for a "front-line" program helping underserved families in the Dulac community. With just a few supplies and the help of other Native American United Methodist women of Clanton Chapel UMC, the program got underway.

Clanton Chapel Christian Preschool is an Advance Special of the Louisiana Annual Conference. Only about 20 percent of the school's students come from the membership families of Clanton Chapel UMC, opening the church's doors wide to the surrounding community.
