UMW of Newman UMC hosts community prayer breakfast

The United Methodist Women (UMW) of Newman United Methodist Church in Alexandria recently hosted their first “Praise and Prayer” breakfast.

Striving to strengthen ties between the UMW and the church’s surrounding community, the event was attended by more than 77 people, including Rev. Joseph Awotwi, pastor of Newman UMC.

Focusing on Colossians 4:3--“Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert to it with thanksgiving”—the breakfast featured guest speaker Shirley Taylor, “first lady” of Second Evening Star Baptist Church in Boyce.

UMW President Bridjette Perry welcomed the group, distributing inspirational buttons to each of the guests.
