GBGM missionaries to visit conference

March 05, 2015

Kristen Brown, a missionary with the General Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church, will be in Louisiana from April 20-26. Brown serves as Coordinator of Interpretation, Education and Advocacy through the Methodist liaison office in Jerusalem. Her time with us includes visits to churches in Shreveport, Lafayette and Baton Rouge. (See attached schedule here.)

Also, Becky Harrell and Karen Ujereh will be joining us during Annual Conference in June. Harrell serves as mission advocate for the South Central Jurisdiction. She has worked in the field in Costa Rica and Chile. As mission advocate, she is now a resource to our conference for significant connection to United Methodist missionaries and projects around the world. Harrell will be preaching at Noel UMC, Shreveport on June 6.

Karen Johnson Ujereh is serving as director of the United Methodist Malawi Microfinance Program based in Blantyre, Malawi. The program trains men and women in small business development, preparing them to receive loans from funds placed with an international microfinance agency. It also engages in community development. One of Ujereh’s primary jobs is to oversee training. Karen’s time in Louisiana will extend beyond Annual Conference through the month of June. Churches and groups can get on Karen’s schedule to hear her story by contacting Rev. Ann Sutton at revann70507@gmail.com
