One hundred and ten years after Pearl River United Methodist Church build its original sanctuary, the congregation consecrated a new building that will offer settings for small groups, Bible Studies, meetings, a place to welcome guests to the church, and a place of privacy for persons talking with the pastor.
Grace Center was consecrated during a service led by Rev. Hadley Edwards, New Orleans District Superintendent. Rev. Pattye Hewitt, associate pastor for First UMC in Baton Rouge and former pastor at Pearl UMC, preached during the service. Rev. Hewitt served as the congregation’s pastor during the visioning, planning and fundraising phases of the project. Rev. Lane Cotton Winn, pastor, served as worship leader for the service.
