St. Mark UMC celebrates 125th anniversary
St. Mark United Methodist Church, 6217 Glen Oaks Dr. in Baton Rouge, will celebrate its 125th anniversary on Aug. 17 at 10 a.m. The church, which is the second oldest historically black church in the Baton Rouge community, will celebrate the anniversary using the theme “Surrendering to the Holy Spirit,” with John 14:15-31 and Romans 8:22-27 as supporting scriptures.
Rev. Derrick Hills, pastor of St. Mark UMC, will introduce guest speaker Rev. Clifton Conrad, pastor of Camphor Memorial UMC. Following the program, a reception will be held in the Fellowship Hall.
Rev. Glorious Wright is serving as chair for the event and Marelyn Branch is co-chair. For additional information, call the church office at (225) 357-6150. The public is invited to attend.
